Established in Campbeltown Scotland in 1828 and still run by generations of just one family, the Mitchells, Springbank Whisky is the only remaining distillery in Scotland to still malt 100% of its barley using traditional floor-malting methods. It’s also the only Scottish distillery to produce 3 distinct malts on-site. And while many of its competitors cut corners during the 1920s due to high consumer demand, Springbank continued to establish its reputation as a superior malt whisky manufacturer. By 1934, many distilleries in the Campbeltown area were forced to close, leaving only Springbank and another well-known brand (Glen Scotia), further enshrining this prolific brand as a true iconic distillery.
