Officially founded in 1875 by Jasper Newton ‘Jack’ Daniel and lay-preacher Dan Call, Jack Daniel’s has since expanded to offer various affiliated brands including Gentlemen Jack and Tennessee Fire. After leaving home at a very early age, Jack was taken in by Call and learned the art of whiskey making from another historically significant figure; Nathan ‘Nearest’ Green – an enslaved African-American man who worked as Call’s Master Distiller and who is the namesake of famed Uncle Nearest Whiskey. Jack Daniel’s very first iteration, Old No. 7 (now known as Jack’s Black Label), was first launched in 1876 and has gone on to become the top-selling whiskey in the world.
